Does Fitbit Air Work With Apple Health?

Quick Answer

Yes, through the Google Health app, with one important gap. Fitbit Air records its data in the Google Health app, which the Fitbit app became starting May 19, 2026. On an iPhone or iPad running iOS 16.4 or later, you can connect Google Health to Apple Health, and Google's help center says the app can then write data types including steps, heart rate, resting heart rate, sleep sessions and sleep stages, and exercise to Apple Health. Heart rate variability (HRV) and skin temperature are not on Google's list of data it writes to Apple Health. The connection is also not automatic: you switch it on in the Google Health app and choose which categories to share.

Why This Matters

A wearable is only as useful as the places its data can go. Sleep, heart rate, HRV and activity data are more powerful when they can sit next to workouts, nutrition, cycle data and recovery tools. On an iPhone, Apple Health is the hub most other health apps read from, so what Google Health writes there decides what those apps can see from Fitbit Air.

What Fitbit Air Data Reaches Apple Health

Google publishes one list of the data types the Google Health app can write to Apple Health. It covers the app as a whole, and Fitbit Air data is part of what the app holds. Google does not publish a separate list per device.

Data type Google Health writes it to Apple Health? Readable by other iPhone apps?
Steps Yes Yes, with Apple Health access
Heart rate and resting heart rate Yes Yes, with Apple Health access
Sleep sessions and sleep stages Yes Yes, with Apple Health access
Workouts (exercise) Yes Yes, with Apple Health access
HRV No Not through Apple Health

The practical takeaway: for everyday metrics, Fitbit Air now works with Apple Health once you connect the Google Health app. Skin temperature is also missing from Google's list. And if an app you rely on reads HRV from Apple Health, it will not get that value from Fitbit Air.

How to Connect Fitbit Air to Apple Health

Google's steps for connecting the Google Health app to Apple Health:

  1. Check the requirements. You need an iPhone or iPad on iOS 16.4 or later with an internet connection, and you must be signed in to the Google Health app with an adult Google Account. A Fitbit account has to be moved to a Google Account first.
  2. Open the connection. In the Google Health app, tap Connections at the top left, then Apps and services, and under "Add connections" tap Apple Health.
  3. Grant permissions. Tap Get started, agree on the "Sync Google Health with Apple Health" page, then turn all categories on or pick the ones you want, and tap Allow.

You can review or change what Google Health may read and write later in the Apple Health app: open the Sharing tab, then Apps, then Google Health.

If You Need HRV in Apple Health

Because Google Health does not write HRV to Apple Health, HRV is the one number where Fitbit Air still needs a different route on an iPhone. The simplest is a device that writes HRV to Apple Health directly, such as an Apple Watch. The tradeoff is that an Apple Watch is a full smartwatch rather than a screenless passive band. Some App Store utilities also sync Fitbit or Google Health data into Apple Health, but they usually cost money, sync on a delay and depend on Google keeping its API open to them, so check that a specific app actually handles HRV before paying for it.

Where Beacon Fits

Straight answer: Beacon has no direct Fitbit or Google Health connection, and Fitbit Air data has no route into Beacon today. If you want your wearable data in Beacon on iPhone, an Apple Watch, WHOOP or Oura is the way in.

FAQ

Does Fitbit Air sync with Apple Health?

Yes, once you connect it. Fitbit Air data lives in the Google Health app, and Google's help center says the app can write steps, heart rate, resting heart rate, sleep, workouts and other data types to Apple Health on iOS 16.4 or later. HRV and skin temperature are not on that list.

Does Fitbit Air HRV show up in Apple Health?

No. Heart rate variability is not among the data types Google lists for the Google Health app to write to Apple Health, so apps that read HRV from Apple Health will not see Fitbit Air HRV.

Is Fitbit Air good for iPhone users?

Yes, with one caveat. Fitbit Air works with iPhone through the Google Health app, and the Apple Health connection now shares most everyday metrics. If you rely on HRV in Apple Health, Apple Watch is still the cleaner choice.
