Oura's strength is sleep, measured from the finger overnight. Beacon reads the detail rather than just the score, so coaching can respond to why a night was poor, not only that it was.
What Beacon reads
- Readiness — Oura's readiness score and the contributors behind it: HRV balance, resting heart rate, body temperature, sleep balance and the previous night.
- Sleep, in detail — deep, light, REM and awake time, total sleep, efficiency, average and lowest heart rate, average HRV, respiratory rate, bedtimes, and the night's hypnogram with its five-minute HRV series.
- Sleep score — Oura's 0–100 score and its seven contributors.
- Daily activity — steps, active calories, total calories.
- Blood oxygen — the nightly average.
- Heart rate — the continuous series.
- Workouts — activity, duration, distance and calories.
- Stress and cardiovascular age, where Oura reports them.
What Beacon writes back
Nothing. Read-only.
History and freshness
Connecting imports 90 days. Beacon then polls roughly every 15 minutes.
Good to know
- VO₂ max needs a paid Oura subscription. Beacon asks for it and carries on quietly if Oura declines, so a missing VO₂ max is usually a subscription difference rather than a fault.
- Oura workouts carry no heart rate or strain. For those, the workout needs to come from a watch or a strap.
- Updates arrive on a cycle, not instantly. Beacon polls Oura every 15 minutes, so a night's sleep can take a few minutes to appear.
- Disconnecting keeps your data. Oura is the exception among Beacon's connections — your history stays unless you ask for it to be deleted. Heavier cached detail (raw workout streams and routes) is cleared after 60 days; the day-level record stays.
