Where Athlytic Is Better
- Price. Athlytic Pro's $29.99 a year is less than a third of Bevel Pro's $99.99.
- Focus on training readiness. Recovery, Exertion, and Training Load sit at the center, workout effort is compared against your previous 12 months of similar workouts, and a morning report sums up your day.
- Siri answers. You can ask Siri how you should work out today and get an answer based on your Recovery, Exertion, Training Load, planned workouts, and workout history.
- More Apple devices. Athlytic also runs on iPad and Apple Vision Pro, and supports iOS 17, one version older than Bevel requires.
Where Bevel Is Better
- The free tier. Recovery, sleep, strain, stress, nutrition, strength, and cycle tracking are all free.
- Food and strength logging in one app. Barcode, image, recipe, and text food logging with a database of more than 6 million foods, plus Strength Builder with more than 700 exercises.
- Direct connections beyond Apple Health. Bevel connects to Garmin, Oura, and Google Health, including Fitbit data, directly.
- Languages. Bevel is available in English and 12 other languages. Athlytic's listing shows English only.
- An AI coach, if you pay for it. Bevel Intelligence answers questions about your data, runs check-ins, and helps plan training and nutrition.

What Apple's New Readiness Score Changes
On September 9, 2026, Apple announced readiness for Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4: a daily score from 0 to 10, based on recent activity, vitals, and sleep score, with one of four recommendations, Recover, Pace Yourself, Ready, or Go For It. Apple said watchOS 27 would arrive on September 14 for Apple Watch Series 9 or later, SE 3, and Ultra 2 or later, and that its redesigned Health app, with a Health Age feature, would follow later this year, starting in U.S. English.
What that means here: if you buy a Series 12 or Ultra 4, you get a readiness score from Apple without a third-party app. Apple's announcement ties readiness to those two new watches, so on older models Athlytic and Bevel still provide the daily recovery score. Both apps also go further than one number: Athlytic on training load and workout effort, Bevel on food, strength, and its AI coach.
Gentler Streak vs Athlytic
Gentler Streak takes almost the opposite approach to Athlytic's training focus. Its App Store listing pitches it to people who want to "move consistently, not constantly," with workout suggestions that respond to your readiness, full sleep analysis, cycle-aware suggestions, and streaks that make room for rest days, illness, injury, or vacation. The listing says your health data stays on-device via Apple HealthKit. Gentler Streak won a 2024 Apple Design Award for Social Impact and was Apple Watch App of the Year in 2022.
Gentler Streak Premium comes as monthly, yearly, or lifetime plans, and the App Store listed Premium Monthly at $8.99 and Premium Yearly at $39.99 on September 14, 2026. It runs on iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. Choose Athlytic for training load and recovery numbers, and Gentler Streak if you want steady encouragement to stay active without overdoing it.
Sonar vs Bevel
Sonar is the closer match to Bevel. Both combine several wearables into daily scores and add an AI layer. Sonar's App Store listing names Recovery, Strain, Sleep, Stress, Energy, and Nutrition scores, connections to Apple Watch, Garmin, Oura, Fitbit, Strava, Withings, MyFitnessPal, and Peloton, and Sonar AI, which answers questions about your data. Sonar also offers a web view of your data and an Android app on Google Play.
The trade-off is in what is free. Sonar's current-day Recovery, Sleep, Strain, and Nutrition scores are free, and Sonar Pro is $5.99 a month, $49.99 a year, or $249.99 lifetime. Bevel's free tier covers its full tracking experience, and Bevel Pro is $14.99 a month or $99.99 a year. If price is the deciding factor, Sonar Pro costs about half as much per year as Bevel Pro.
Which Should You Choose?
- Athlytic: Apple Watch owners who want a low-cost subscription focused on recovery and training.
- Bevel: iPhone users who want one free app for recovery, sleep, food, and lifting, and may pay later for an AI coach.
- Gentler Streak: people who want gentle, consistent activity guidance more than training metrics.
- Sonar: people with several wearables who want scores plus an AI layer at a lower Pro price.
- Apple's readiness: Series 12 and Ultra 4 owners who only want one daily number.
Where Beacon Fits
Each of these apps starts from a score. Beacon is built around the plan: turning your sleep, HRV, training and food data into today's workouts and habits, on iPhone. If Bevel is on your shortlist, our Bevel vs Beacon comparison covers the head-to-head.
